FREESTYLE SKIING FAQs

CHOOSING FREESTYLE SKIING FOR MY CHILD?.

Q: How do I know if freestyle is the right program for my child?
A: The Loon Freestyle program is a good fit for children who want to be strong skiers and have a desire to learn how to take air, ski moguls and hit terrain park features safely. The child should also be able to ski parallel, keep up with the group while skiing under control, and possess the ability to get on the chair lift independently and ride it safely.
Q: What do I need for equipment?
A: I'm looking for a new winter jacket and was wondering what you all would recommend.

I've been looking for a new winter jacket for a few weeks now and haven't been able to find anything that I really like. I was wondering if any of you might have some recommendations. I'm looking for something that is waterproof, has a hood, and is relatively warm. I live in the Northeast so it needs to be able to withstand some cold weather. I'm also looking for something that
Q: What competitions should we sign up for?
A: Every athlete is encouraged to participate in the Loon Freestyle Tournament, regardless of age or ability. Registration can be done through www.easternfreestyle.org.
Q: How does Axess RFID gated control system work?
A: RFID access control uses a system of tags, readers, and computer servers to allow chairlift/magic carpet access to guests who present valid Louis Xpress cards loaded with lift tickets/season passes/lessons and rentals.
Q: When does Winter Program start?
A: The Winter Program for full-time athletes typically starts in early December, although the exact date may vary depending on the athlete's schedule.

WHAT HAPPENS IF

Q: What happens if my child gets cold?
A: Dress in layers and be prepared for the weather conditions! We will take breaks to warm up as needed.
Q: What if I’m late?
A: Please try to be on time, but we understand things happen. Our morning chairlift of choice is North Peak. We will almost always lap through there a couple of times each session so that’s the quickest way to catch the group.
Q: What happens if there is inclement weather?
A: Your coach will email you by 7am if there is a need to delay or cancel due to weather.
Q: What about vacations/holidays, who will be skiing with my child?
A: We offer training during Christmas vacation and Mass February vacation.

-Schedules will be based on coach availability and athlete attendance.
Q: What is my ability?
A: If you are a beginner, you should be comfortable on the beginner slopes. If you are a novice, you should be comfortable on green and some blue slopes. If you are an intermediate, you should be confident on blue slopes and possibly some black slopes. If you are advanced, you should be confident on any slope, terrain, or condition on the mountain.

IS STOMP IT CAMPS AND NYSEF?.

Q: What is Stomp It Camps / Tutorials?
A: We think that the best way to improve as a skier is to get proper instruction from a qualified instructor, whether that is through video lessons or in person at a camp.
Q: Who is my main point of contact?
A: You need to purchase a pass for your child if they're enrolling in NYSEF programming. Their Ski3 pass is included in enrollment fees.
Q: What does it mean that NYSEF is a 502 (c)(3)?
A: NYSEF is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for athletes of all ages to reach their potential in snowsports. We have a robust staff of coaches and athletes, and we are always looking for volunteers to help with our programs and events.
Q: What type of material is it?
A: Proslope is a type of Snowsports surface that offers increased grip and resistance.

BENEFITS AND INSTALLATION TIME OF PROSLOPE SURFACE.

Q: Why can´t I download the videos?
A: This is the first video in our series of four videos covering the basics of wheelies. In this video we cover the basics of how to ride a wheelie.

In the next video we cover how to ride a wheelie smoothly and safely.

In the third video we show you how to ride a wheelie with a pillion rider.

In the fourth video we show you how to ride a wheelie with a pillion rider and a sidecar.
Q: What are the benefits of Proslope over traditional surfaces?
A: Proslope is the best surface for all your needs.
Q: What is the performance of Proslope like?
A: If you want to create a high quality, high performance foam insulation system, you need to use Proslope and the Proslope Atomising Mist System.

The Proslope system is a complete, high performance insulation system that can be used to insulate any building. It is made up of a number of components, including the Proslope Atomising Mist System, which is used to create a fine mist that is sprayed onto the surface of the insulation. This mist forms a
